Heli-skiing in one of the best tree skiing areas in the world

Steep runs over 1,000 vertical meters, narrow gullies, thick pillows of snow and up to 20 meters of powder per season make the Monashees a great heliskiing area. The tree skiing there makes it incomparable. Nowhere else in the world are the trees so perfectly spaced for natural slalom as in the Canadian mountain range - simply unbeatable for experienced freeriders. Read more.

The Monashees Lodge area is one of the most challenging in CMH. In the deep snow, often only the tips of the trees are visible. Tree skiing is the flagship of the area, but glacier descents and high alpine terrain at more than 3,000 meters are also very challenging.

There are three groups of up to eleven people (depending on weight), so you can really pick up the pace. You can fly even faster in small groups (December and March). And in private groups of up to eleven guests (Bell 407 helicopters with one or two groups), you can enjoy the powder adventure of a lifetime exactly as you want it.

Our conclusion about Monashees Lodge
Apart from Galena and the Cariboos, we have never found better tree skiing than at CMH Monashees. Steep north-facing slopes, countless natural features and masses of snow make for perfect freeriding bliss. The rustic lodge also leaves nothing to be desired. There is no other heliskiing area like the Monashees in the world. Our conclusion: strong skiers and snowboarders should definitely experience this tree skiing paradise.

LODGE DESCRIPTION

There is a reason why the newest CMH Lodge (as of 2020) is also the largest of the providers: many want to experience the Monashees. The timber-framed mountain lodge can accommodate up to 48 people. It was built from massive fir trees and stones and is decorated with historical objects. The house has 15 single and 22 double rooms with bathrooms. From the large panoramic windows you have a wonderful view of the idyllic lake on the doorstep, and from the whirlpool on the roof terrace you have a magnificent view.

ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE

Check in at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel as soon as you land in Kelowna. You will be greeted by CMH staff at reception. After a good night's sleep, you will take the shuttle bus at 9:00 am. Thanks to the time difference, getting up early is usually not a problem.

From Kelowna, it will take you a good four and a half hours by bus to the CMH Monashees Lodge in Mica Creek. You will make a short stopover in Revelstoke. If you prefer to arrive by rental car, that's no problem either.

On arrival, you first check into your room and then complete the obligatory safety training. The next morning, you'll be on skis or a board for the first time.

On the day of departure, you powder once more in the morning and then drive back to Kelowna in the afternoon. You arrive at the airport at around 17:00. We recommend staying overnight at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel and booking your return flight for the following day.
