Paphos, the small harbor town on the southwest coast of Cyprus, looks back on a rich history. In 2017, it became the first European Capital of Culture on the divided island. Pétra tou Romio, the bay not far from Paphos, was considered a divine place thousands of years ago. Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty, is said to have once emerged from the sea here.

Those interested in archaeology will find what they are looking for in the south of the island around Paphos. Here you can visit many remains of ancient sites. Nature lovers should not miss the Troodos Mountains in southern Cyprus. This area is also known as the green lung of the otherwise barren island. At 1,951 meters, Mount Olympus is the highest mountain in Cyprus. The Kykkos Monastery, the spiritual center of the Orthodox Christians of Cyprus, is also located in this mountain range. The southern Cypriot peninsula of Akamas with its center Polis is also known for its tranquility and untouched nature.
