Where it all began in 1894! The Old Course at Portstewart Golf Club is an institution in its own right. The front 8 holes lie along the rocky coast east of the town of Portstewart on Portmore Road towards Portrush, the back 10 on the inland side. A great short course that is particularly suitable for groups, holidaymakers and beginners. Golf has been played on the historic fairways since 1894. In addition to the Old Course, the legendary Portstewart Golf Club offers two other 18-hole courses, the Strand Course and the Riverside Course. The Strand Course is the jewel of Portstewart. It is undoubtedly one of the best true links golf courses in Ireland, on a par with the two Ulster Royals, Portrush and County Down. It was designed by Willie Park Jr. and Des Giffin in the rolling dunes with sloping bunkers, undulating fairways and tricky greens. The view of the Atlantic Ocean from almost every hole is magical. The Strand Course was the venue for the 2017 Dubai Duty Free Irish Open and the winner at the time, Jon Rahm, said: %22This golf course is incredible. It's probably one of the most beautiful golf courses I've ever seen, if not the most beautiful%22. In addition to the Strand Course, the legendary Portstewart Golf Club offers two other 18-hole courses, the Old Course and the Riverside Course. As the name suggests, the Riverside Course meanders along the banks of the river. In terms of difficulty, the Riverside lies between the challenging Strand Championship Course and the historic Old Course at Portstewart Golf Club.
