The golf course was founded in 1929 - initially as a 9-hole course - and is therefore one of the oldest golf courses in Portugal. The course has been redesigned several times in its history, including in 1945 by the well-known golf course architect Mackenzie Ross. It is located around 25 kilometers west of the center of Lisbon near the seaside resort of Estoril. Today's 18-hole course is relatively short and requires precision rather than length. The course has hosted numerous PGA Portugal Open tournaments, most recently in 1987. Most of the holes are lined with eucalyptus trees and pines. From many holes you have a great view of Estoril and the Atlantic Ocean.
