The championship course and the associated Marriott Hotel are located in the east of Cairo near the airport. Opened in 2001, the course was designed by Peter Harradine. The hilly course with its rather narrow fairways, tricky bunkers and water hazards, some of which are located in the middle of the fairway and come into play on 14 of the 18 holes, is entertaining to play and also visually eye-catching. Fast, large greens also challenge low-handicappers. The 15th hole is spectacular, a par 5 with trees on one side and water along the entire fairway on the other.
