Golf course information
The course opened in 2001 under the name Oitavos Golfe. The magnificent location directly on the Atlantic, the great design with pine forests and dunes, the view over the ocean and Sintra Mountains and the links character reminiscent of top Scottish courses quickly attracted an international audience to the ultra-modern course. It was then renamed Oitavas Dunes. The flat and challenging course has already made it onto the "Top 100 Courses of the World" list of the American "GOLF Magazine" and has already hosted all European professional tours. However, architect Arthur Hill has achieved a real masterpiece with the flat 18-hole course on the Portuguese west coast for another reason. The course was built under the premise of not endangering protected flora and fauna under any circumstances. Today, it even provides a home for endangered animals and plants. For this, The Oitavos Dunes has been awarded the Audubon International Gold Signature. The internationally recognized Signature Sanctuary Program is committed to sustainability in the construction of new golf courses.
