Just half an hour south of Dublin's city center, Powerscourt Golf Club is set in the foothills of the rolling Wicklow hills in one of Ireland's most beautiful areas. Opened in 1996, Powerscourt boasts two of Ireland's finest championship courses which, despite their proximity to each other, present different challenges for every golfer. The West Course, designed by David McLay Kidd, winds its way through the 1,000-acre Powerscourt Estate. Like its sister course, East Course, the course offers magnificent views of the Wicklow Hills and the Irish Sea. The course has a variety of challenging holes. %22This course gives every player a sense of adventure%22, says course designer David Mc Lay Kidd. The East Course was designed by former Walker Cup captain Peter Mc Evoy. It is a real challenge for golfers of all abilities. The East Course has hosted some of Ireland's most prestigious golf tournaments, including the Irish PGA Championship and the European Tour Irish Senior Open.
