The Real Club de Golf Sotogrande golf course is considered one of the masterpieces of Robert Trent Jones, who chose this course as one of his five favorite courses out of more than 500 courses he designed worldwide, as he wrote in his 1988 book GOLF - THE MANIFICIENT CHALLENGE. Nothing describes a round at the Real Club de Golf Sotogrande better than these words. It is a fascinating course for players of all levels that preserves all the natural beauty of the land on which it was built just 150 meters from the Mediterranean Sea. The course has a par of 72 and measures 6,492 meters. It offers long tees, wide fairways and elevated greens that are finely sculpted and very fast, which is the greatest difficulty of the course. Of the 100 or so bunkers on the course, 69 are located around the greens, reminding the player to be very accurate when hitting the pins. The variety of holes is another feature of the Real Club de Golf Sotogrande, not only in terms of shape and distances, but also in terms of vegetation: the mixture of cork oaks, pine trees, palm trees and a wealth of other species gives the course a wonderful personality and beauty.
