The Harbour Town Golf Links is the best known and most famous of the three golf courses at Sea Pines Resort. It was opened in 1960 and designed by Pete Dye, who was advised by Jack Nicklaus. It is relatively flat and combines elements of links and parkland courses in a unique way. The course has won numerous awards and is rightly regarded as one of the best in the USA. It has hosted the RBC Heritage PGA tournament since 1969. The course is notorious among tour players as it requires more finesse, imagination and shot technique than pure power and length. Some par 3s and the 18th hole par 4 are among the best and most feared in professional golf. A caddie or at least a forecaddie is compulsory for guests and a tip is expected.
