Tipperary Golf Club was founded in 1896, making it one of the oldest in the country. Originally located outside the town in the Tipperary Hills, the club moved first to Crogue, then to Garnacanty and finally to its present location in Rathanny in 1939. In 1994 its course was extended to 18 holes. The course lies in the shadow of the Galtee Mountains on the road to the picturesque Glen of Aherlow. The 18-hole course is challenging but enjoyable for golfers of all abilities.
