Kildare is a hotspot for golf. The county has welcomed the world's best golfers to the K Club for the Ryder Cup and hosted 13 European Opens. The town of Kildare is officially recognized as an Irish Heritage Town. It is also famous in equestrian circles. The lush green countryside of **Thoroughbred County** is home to many of Ireland's finest stallions, stables and racecourses. Curragh, Punchestown and Naas racecourses are big names on the scene. A journey through the thoroughbred county should start at the Irish National Stud. The Japanese Gardens, on the other hand, are a sanctuary of 200-year-old bonsai trees, lava rock from Vesuvius and a path that traces the evolution of man. A different kind of garden experience awaits visitors at St. Fiachra's Garden. Named after the patron saint of Irish gardeners, this garden is dedicated entirely to the theme of stone and water - the most primal of all features of the Irish landscape. About an hour's drive from Dublin, the beautiful and historic 4-star Kilkea Castle Hotel is located in County Kildare, surrounded by nature. It is located in one of the oldest inhabited castles in Ireland. In the Middle Ages, it was the fortress of the FitzGeralds, Earls of Kildare.
The 140 rooms are located in different buildings. All are individually furnished with a great deal of luxury. You have the option of staying in one of the 11 rooms in the castle, in one of the renovated and modern coach rooms in the courtyard of the castle or in self-catering apartments with kitchen and other amenities at the Club House.
The 2 restaurants provide culinary highlights. In the "Restaurant 1180" you will be spoiled with fine cuisine in a dining room in the castle - a unique experience. The Bistro is located in the clubhouse and spoils you with delicious snacks at lunchtime. Of course, the traditional afternoon tea with various tea specialties, sandwiches, scones and sparkling wine is also a must. In "The Keep" bar, you can enjoy delicious local beers and other drinks.
The boutique spa is located in the castle and offers various treatments and massages.
