Palisades Tahoe (formerly Squaw Valley) is a renowned winter sports destination in California's Sierra Nevada Mountains. It is located near the lake. Palisades is best known for its challenging runs, extensive terrain and first-class snow quality. The ski area covers an area of around 2,428 hectares and offers more than 170 marked runs covering all levels of difficulty. There are steep slopes, open runs, deep snow areas and special areas for freestyle skiers, including terrain parks and halfpipes. Squaw Valley has a rich history and was the site of the 1960 Winter Olympics.
