Whistler

The largest ski resort in North America is a giant in every respect

When a ski globetrotter like Tamara Mayer from the TRAVELZONE ski team settles down, that's saying something! The Swiss skier's new home is Whistler. The top ski resort in British Columbia is "Number 1" in every respect. The largest and most varied ski area in North America with its unique and large ski-in ski-out village is in a class of its own. With more than 200 runs on two mountains (Whistler Mountain and Blackckomb Mountain), Whistler offers slopes and terrain for all skill levels. The alpine venue of the 2010 Winter Olympics is particularly famous for its numerous unprepared "Double Black Diamond" runs and its couloirs. This is where the best skiers and snowboarders test their limits. "My favorite runs are the Double Black Diamonds in the Spankies Ladder area on Blackcomb and the steep slopes on Whistler Peak," says Tamara. The groomed slopes are also some of the best and longest in North America. The variety of runs at Symphony Chair is divine and the Peak to Creek run is a whopping 11 kilometers long.
