Great Bear Heli Skiing: Boutique lodge and big mountain skiing

Opened in 2022, Great Bear Heli Skiing is not only the newest heliskiing lodge in Canada, but also one of the most interesting in the motherland of heliskiing! The charming base is located in a beautiful fishing lodge on the Dean River in the middle of the Great Bear Rainforest in the snow-covered Coast Mountains of British Columbia. Like all other offers at TRAVELZONE, we have of course tested Great Bear Heli Skiing for you personally. And we can say: Great Bear is great! In total, the Great Bear area is almost a quarter of the size of the entire Swiss Alps!
You will hardly find better alpine heliskiing on huge glaciers, impressive steep slopes and in magnificent high valleys. To the west of the lodge, the mountain worlds are gigantic - as are the snow depths of 20 to 30 meters. East of the lodge, the climate is somewhat drier. At the back of the Coast Mountains, just a few minutes from the lodge, there are excellent forest runs as a bad weather option. The result: very few down days!
Great Bear accommodates a maximum of 12 guests in its first-class log cabin lodge. In the semi-private program, they fly in 2 groups with 2 guides and a small helicopter. The **all-in package** includes the flights from Vancouver to Bella Coola and back, as well as unlimited vertical meters and all food and drinks (including alcoholic beverages) and two 60-minute massages.

Lodge description

The lodge is idyllically situated on the banks of the Dean River about 50 kilometers north of Bella Coola in the Coast Mountains of British Columbia. Huge cedars, firs and hemlocks grow behind the log cabin. The main lodge and the guest houses are perfectly embedded in the forest. Inside, the lodge is a sprawling, open-beam structure with beautiful driftwood, large picture windows, a blazing fireplace, cozy furnishings, a spacious kitchen and an inviting cocktail bar.

The guest chalets were built from local timber with the same care and attention to detail as the lodge. A sitting area with a view of the river, woolen carpets and cast-iron stoves make for a cozy atmosphere. The floor tiles in the bathroom are heated. The wood-fired sauna is located above a small stream in the forest in a cedar hut. And as a kind of highlight, you can enjoy your two included massages in a heated tent.

Some heliski providers also have special prices for locals in this exceptional situation, but these do not apply to foreign guests. Arrival and departure

Uncomplicated, exclusive and included! The flight to and from Vancouver is included in the price. You fly directly to Bella Coola. After the one-hour flight, the helicopter shuttle will be waiting for you for the short drive (30 minutes) to the lodge.
If you are traveling from Europe, you must plan an overnight stay in Vancouver for the outward journey. The return flight from Vancouver is possible on the day of departure, depending on the flight connection. Talk to us. We have numerous hotels at special rates for heliskiers, as well as cheap flights.
