Heliskiing in Alaska with Third Edge Heli is simply different. The mountains seem bigger, the runs steeper, the views more spectacular than anywhere else. The wilderness is rougher, the weather more extreme, but despite this, in the past 3 winters we have been able to ski 5 out of 7 possible days! The whole experience in the huge US state takes the freeride adventure to a new level. And Third Edge Heli is anything but standard. From the group size to the guest-to-guide ratio to the strategic location, the boutique operator from Wasilla stands out from the majority of the well-known heli-ski operators here in Alaska as well as over in Canada. Third Edge Heli's base is surrounded by five mountain ranges: Chugach, Kenai, Tordrillo and Talkeetna Mountains as well as the Alaska Range. This cleverly chosen location opens up countless opportunities for pilots to react to weather and snow conditions. Due to their proximity to the coast, the peaks are regularly showered with tons of powder. Once the storms have passed, dry, velvety-soft snow remains. On this surface, every wide and fast turn triggers a new wave of happiness.
And there are plenty of opportunities for turns into happiness. Third Edge Heli flies with just three guests and two guides per group, with each group having exclusive use of one helicopter. There are no waiting times - but other areas are taken to the maximum. The choice of terrain, for example, is perfectly tailored to the wishes of freeriders thanks to the single-load concept, while service and safety in the terrain reach an absolute maximum thanks to the unbeatable guest-to-guide ratio of 3:2.
Third Edge Heli is the ultimate Eldorado for anyone with a passion for deep snow and adrenaline-filled descents. In our opinion, it is one of the world's top destinations. The exclusivity of this place comes at a price, of course - but it's worth every penny. Experience spectacular descents with the majestic glacier landscape in the foreground and the backdrop of the Seward coastline with the sparkling Pacific Ocean in the background. An experience that is second to none. However, the region's real strengths lie in narrow bowls and on narrow ridges, on steep slopes and in open bowls - in other words, in the fantastic lines of big mountain skiing. The memories remain unforgettable. And because all guides have a camera with them for the best powder shots, you can share them with friends and family later on.

The Third Edge Heli base may seem remote, but it is extremely easy to reach from Anchorage. The flight time by helicopter is just twelve minutes. If you decide to travel by car, you need to allow around 50 minutes. Especially for the last day of heliskiing, the short distance to the airport in Anchorage is worth its weight in gold. This means you can go powder skiing again before you leave without having to worry about missing your flight at the end of the day.

For those who want to see even more of Alaska's mountains, Third Edge Heli can arrange exciting helicopter safaris. The freeriders travel further away from the lodge, which makes the trip a little more expensive.
If you only want to visit the provider for one day, you need a good dose of luck: occasionally there are free places for single-day heli-skiing. These are then allocated via a waiting list.
