All-rounder with top heli-skiing until spring

Almost endless alpine runs and great forest runs, the best snow until well into spring, slopes for beginners and advanced skiers: the Cariboos area is the heliskiing all-rounder among the CMH areas. And as the helis don't have to fly over any passes to other areas, there are hardly any down days. Read more.

The northernmost CMH lodge is located in the North Thompson Valley, which is reliably blessed with huge amounts of snow. Even late in the season, you can still enjoy great powder skiing, especially on the north-facing glaciers. The combination of warmth and cold ensures a stable snow cover. Otherwise, the northern foothills of the Columbia Mountains impress with a mix of high alpine terrain and tree skiing.

Not a heliskiing pro yet? With four groups of a maximum of ten to eleven guests (depending on weight), there are enough breaks to enjoy the adventure at your leisure. Special powder intro trips make it even easier for you to get started.

LODGE DESCRIPTION

The fly-in lodge in the middle of the Canadian wilderness is CMH's second lodge after the Bugaboos Lodge. It can accommodate 44 guests and has twelve single and 16 double rooms, all with en-suite bathrooms. With its rustic wooden design, it is one of CMH's coziest accommodations. After heliskiing, you can meet up by the open fireplace or wander over to the spa hut with sauna and outdoor whirlpool, which is idyllically situated on the shore of a small lake.

ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE

Via an international airport - usually Vancouver - you take a domestic flight to Kelowna. A shuttle will take you from there to the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel Kelowna. CMH staff will greet you at reception. After a restful night's sleep, you will take the shuttle bus at 6:30 in the morning. Thanks to the time difference, getting up early is usually not a problem.

On the way, you will pass Vernon, Kamloops and Heffley Creek before arriving at the helipad after a five-hour drive. From there, the helicopter takes you to the lodge. Once you have settled into your room, you complete the obligatory safety training. Over dinner, you fortify yourselves for the first deep-snow turns the next morning.

On the day of departure, you take the same route back as on the outward journey. You arrive at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel at around 7:45 pm. You should have booked your return flight for the next day.

Destination airport for intercontinental flight: Vancouver or Calgary

Next airport: Kelowna and Kamloops

Transfer: Shuttle bus and helicopter

Total transfer time: 5.5 hours

SPECIALS
CMH Cariboos also proves its versatility with a wide selection of special programs. Family Trips are ideal for families with children between the ages of 12 and 17, while Powder Intros are aimed at beginners. Powder Masters is primarily for older winter sports enthusiasts. The quality of the runs is more important than the number. And on Fusion Trips, ski tourers can fly into the mountains and then continue their ascent from there.
