The Armada Hotel is located right on the wild Atlantic coast of Ireland. In 2022 it was voted the best four-star hotel in the country. In the restaurants of the modern and authentic boutique hotel, great importance is attached to local produce. Vegetables and herbs come from the hotel's own farm and even the gin is produced in-house. The Armada is the perfect starting point for exploring the Wild Atlantic Way with the rugged cliffs of Moher. Several golf courses such as the famous Lahinch Golf Club or Golf Links Doonberg are less than a 30-minute drive away.
County Clare: between lunar landscape and sea of flowers
Huge cliffs in a rugged limestone landscape, scattered with picturesque villages: The coastal county of Clare exudes its very own rugged charm. In the Burren & Cliffs of Moher Geopark, it presents itself as a barren lunar landscape with dramatic rock formations and mysterious caves. Before summer, however, millions of wildflowers bloom on the stone slabs and make the region shine in all its colorful glory. The locals celebrate this in May with the Burren in Bloom Festival.
But even without the sea of flowers, the landscape is stunning. It has already served as the backdrop for blockbusters such as "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" and "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince". It is also a paradise for sports enthusiasts. Surfers plunge into the waves on the golden-brown beaches of Spanish Point. Golfers, on the other hand, are drawn to the greens of the magnificent golf clubs in the area.
In addition to the natural advantages and sports facilities, Clare also has a number of pleasant towns to offer. Mount Shannon on the western shore of the beautiful Lough Derg or Killaloe in the south of the lake are popular excursion destinations.
