Deep snow adventure at White Wilderness Heliskiing in Canada

What makes this trip so special? Skiing is great, heliskiing is terrific and heliskiing with an ex-ski racer like Dani Mahrer and "SRF bi de Lüt" presenter Salar Bahrampoori is the greatest. Come with us on the ski trip of a lifetime! Streif winner Dani Mahrer and SRF presenter Salar Bahrampoori, who is also a qualified snow sports instructor and an experienced "freerider", are accompanying the exclusive TRAVELZONE heliskiing group trip to White Wilderness Heliskiing in Canada from January 31 to February 7, 2025.

6 days of heliskiing in just 3 small groups of 4 guests and a guide with unlimited vertical meters - that's freeriding XXL. "Ride the powder" without waiting times and individually at your group's favorite pace. The heliski area in north-western Canada is outstanding with a perfect mix of long, open deep-snow slopes and fantastic forest runs. And the cozy lodge of White Wilderness Heliskiing is one of the most beautiful heliski lodges in the world.

For the guided heliski trip from our ON TOUR series, we were able to secure the entire lodge exclusively for TRAVELZONE! So, together with Dani Mahrer and Salar Bahrampoori at WWH, it's just the two of us. You're sure to feel even more at home in the Canadian heliski chalet owned by two Swiss! Eight-time World Cup winner Dani Mahrer has been leading heliskiing groups to Canada for many years. His trips are legendary. Because of the endless fun in the snow, but also because Dani always has stories and anecdotes to tell about his racing career and the current World Cup scene. And don't worry: Dani can still ski damn fast, but on our tour he will of course adapt to your speed and ability. Nobody will be overwhelmed. Safety first applies on all our ON TOUR trips! The main thing is that everyone has fun in the snow.

And you will have fun with us. The indigenous people living in the region, the Tsimishan First Nations, call the White Wilderness Heliskiing area "Ganeeks Laxha" - the stairway to heaven. But you won't be going quite that far up after all. However, the beautiful mix of alpine and forest runs in the snow-covered Skeena Mountains is sure to give you a heavenly run or two. Especially since WWH was able to expand its area enormously in terms of quantity and quality in 2020.

Heliskiing with us looks like this: No piste signs, no boundary fences and untouched powder snow as far as the eye can see. Flying by helicopter to otherwise inaccessible peaks and then powdering through the "white gold" in small groups with an experienced mountain guide - that's skiing or snowboarding in a different dimension. Compared to other heli-skiing regions, Canada offers many decisive advantages: the unique "tree runs" through sparse forests make it possible to ski even in bad weather. In addition, the tall trees defy most storms and prevent snow drifts. Added to this is the dry snow, which has this unbelievably great powder snow quality. And with blue skies, even the daily flight into the area is an absolute highlight. Mountains, glaciers and virgin slopes as far as the eye can see. This makes every freerider's heart beat faster. It's an indescribable feeling when you hurtle down these endless untracked slopes. Alone with a handful of friends in a huge area where only a dozen snow sports enthusiasts are out and about, where otherwise there are tens of thousands in the Alps.

So, as you can see, there are plenty of reasons for every "powderhound" to come to Canada. But we have to "warn" you about one thing: our guided heliski trips, such as the one with Dani Mahrer, have "addictive potential". The "relapse rate" is very high!

Dani Mahrer's professional summary of the ON TOUR Canada trip from TRAVELZONE
"As a World Cup skier, I spent many years around the globe skiing down the toughest slopes as fast as possible. It was a great time. Now I'm much slower, but I enjoy skiing all the more for it. Especially in the fabulous powder snow when heliskiing in Canada. Heliskiing is an unforgettable experience for any skier or snowboarder. Untracked snow on every descent, every day! Deep snow heliskiing is the greatest - especially in a great heliski area like White Wilderness Heliskiing in Terrace. Great heliskiing with unlimited vertical meters (!) and the cosy Skeena Salmon Lodge await us in Canada. I'm really looking forward to this heliskiing trip with you. Come with me on the heliski trip of a lifetime!"

01.02.2025Heliskiing at White Wilderness Heliskiing
After breakfast it's "let's go skiing" and you will receive the obligatory briefing with the **Avalanche Radio Transceiver". In addition to the avalanche transceiver, each participant must also wear the avalanche airbag provided (incl. probe and shovel) while skiing. As part of this introduction, you will also learn the most important safety and behavioral rules. The pilot will give a short safety talk on how to behave around the helicopter. And then - at around 10:30/11:00 - the helicopter takes off. Lunch is served in the mountains as long as the group is in the mood and there is enough daylight. In January/February, the ski days therefore end at around 16:00. On average, 8 to 12 runs are completed per day. Back at the lodge, you will find delicious snacks at the bar, which White Wilderness offers you every day after skiing. After a successful powder day, there's nothing better than relaxing in the sauna or jacuzzi and loosening up your muscles. At a later hour, you can review the day over a drink by the fireplace or at the bar and look forward to the next one before you probably fall into bed, satisfied and tired.

Skeena River Lodge @ White Wilderness Heliskiing

Built with a façade of massive tree trunks on the Skeena River, the lodge is one of the most beautiful heliski lodges in the world. While the appearance inside remains pleasantly rustic, the amenities are absolutely contemporary. The attentive service in particular is in a class of its own. In the log cabins with modern bathrooms around the main building, guests sleep in queen-size beds, while a wood-burning stove provides pleasant warmth. The new single rooms in the lodge itself provide direct access to the spa and fitness area. Culinary delights for winter sports enthusiasts are not only in line with North American standards at gourmet level. Thanks to the "farm to table" concept, many of the fresh ingredients come from a local farm.
