The USA: a winter paradise for ski enthusiasts! Our conclusion:
Skiing in the USA is an unforgettable experience. Altitudes of sometimes well over 3000 meters (especially in Colorado) can be a bit challenging for the inexperienced at first. It is therefore worth bringing a good basic level of fitness and taking it easy for the first few days. Most descents take place on groomed slopes. American ski resorts often also offer so-called "back bowls" or off-piste areas for deep snow skiing. These are controlled but unprepared off-piste runs. You can enjoy daily skiing on this ski safari in a group or on your own. Transport between the ski resorts and from the accommodation to the ski resorts and back is organized in any case.

Please note that hotel prices in the USA have risen sharply since the end of the pandemic. Prices are based on accommodation in a double room. If someone is traveling alone and is willing to share the room with another person traveling with them, a half double room can also be booked. In all other cases, it is assumed that two people already known will share a double room or pay the single room supplement. Below is a list of possible locations.

Ski passes
Single day ski passes in North America quickly cost between 150 and 200 US$. The ski resorts visited during this trip belong exclusively to two large ski resort operators. These offer their customers discounted ski pass packages in the form of multi-day passes for access to several ski resorts or season passes for access to all ski resorts. The season passes also allow skiing days in certain overseas ski resorts in Europe, Japan, South America or New Zealand. Depending on the choice of the ski safari variants presented, a season ticket in combination with a multi-day ticket, for example, is worthwhile. This is significantly cheaper than individual day tickets and you also have the option of additional ski days, e.g. in Zermatt, Chamonix, the Dolomites or Kitzbühel, throughout the ski season. More information about the ski passes under "Prices".
Ski equipment
In principle, you can hire ski equipment in all ski resorts. However, this can be time-consuming and expensive. We therefore recommend that you bring all your ski equipment with you, including ski boots, skis and poles or snowboard. Basically, everyone knows their own preferences when it comes to equipment. A pair of skis should suffice. Whether you want to bring a pure piste ski or a slightly wider "all-mountain ski" for the aforementioned "back bowls" is up to you. Good cold protection for the face and extremities can be useful due to the sometimes very high altitudes and often low temperatures.
Transportation
Depending on the size of the group for the individual sections, transportation is provided in a minibus or medium-sized van. The tour guide also acts as chauffeur. The buses have sufficient storage space for luggage and ski equipment. We assume one large piece of luggage per person (ideally not a hard-shell suitcase), one ski boot bag, one ski/snowboard bag and one piece of hand luggage.
Meals
Meals are not included and are paid for individually on site. As a basic rule, we suggest budgeting US$ 250 per day and per person. This may seem a lot at first glance, but of course depends on the choice of restaurants and food & drinks. Communal dinners are of course optional.
Tips
Tips are not optional in the USA, but are expected. They represent a considerable part of the employee's income. No or few tips can only be justified if the service is very poor or non-existent. It is therefore common to add between 20% and 25% to meals and drinks. As a budget item for tips, we therefore suggest US$ 50 per day and person.
